Dr Miriam Lynn started her career as a microbiologist in the 1990s. She was an out lesbian to family and friends but firmly in the closet to all of her lab colleagues. During this period of her career she volunteered for an HIV and AIDS charity and realised that she could explain viral transmission in a way that was easy to understand and break down associated stigma.
Miriam will discuss what, if anything, has changed since the 1990s, and what keeps us from being our authentic selves at work. She will encourage you to think about whether this matters and to consider what role you can play as colleagues, allies and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community within the HE sector. By the end of the webinar you will have a greater understanding of how to implement practical strategies to further your inclusive practice.
